Serving the Charlotte Community
In spring 2005, construction began on the campus of Carolinas HeathCare System NorthEast for a new children’s hospital.
Shortly after ground was broken, Jeff began discussions about how he could help support this hospital that would ultimately serve so many children in the Charlotte area, including those in the racing community. With a lead gift of $1.5 million and a promise of ongoing partnership, the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital (JGCH) was named and received its first patients in late 2006.
While the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation focuses primarily on childhood cancer, this 53-bed hospital within a hospital offers exceptional emergency and intensive pediatric care in many areas including:
- Behavioral Health
And has introduced vital services in previously underserved pediatric specialty areas including:
- The region’s only dedicated Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
- A nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center diagnosing and treating children from birth to age 18 who are victims of physical and sexual abuse.
- A Level IV (highest level of care) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with dedicated neonatologists on-site 24/7.
